                                        in conjunction with

The 18th International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications (DEXA 2007)
                                Sept 3 - 7, 2007
                                 Regensburg, Germany

BACKGROUND:

XML has gain lot of attention from database researchers who are actively working in one or
more of the emerging XML areas. XML data are self-describing, and provide a platform
independent means to describe data and therefore, can transport data from one platform  to
another. XML documents can be mapped to one more of the existing data models such as
relational and object-relational, and XML views can be produced dynamically from the
pre-existing data models. XML queries can be mapped to the queries of the underlying
models and can use their optimization features. In this context, schema management and
discovery, query optimization, data integration and indexing plays important roles. XML
data integration is useful for E-commerce applications such as comparison-shopping,
which requires further study in the domain of data, schema and query based integration.
XML change management is another important area that has attracted attention in the context
of web warehouse. XML has been  in use in upcoming areas such web services, sensor and
biological data management.

We are pleased to invite original contributions in this area for the 2nd International
Workshop on XML Data Management Tools & Techniques to be held in Regensburg, Germany. One of
the key objective of this workshop is to bring together researchers in this area who can
share their views under this workshop. We solicits papers with important new insights and
experiences of developing tools and techniques for managing XML data. Topics of interest
include, but are not limited to

*Tools/Techniques for XML schema discovery
*Tools/Techniques for XML schema validation and constraints
*Tools/Techniques for XML data integration
*Tools/Techniques for XML data storage and indexing
*Tools/Techniques for realizing XML query languages and optimization
*Tools/Techniques for XML views and data publishing
*Tools/Techniques for XML applications in semantic web
*Tools/Techniques for XML data mining
*Tools/Techniques for XML change management
*Tools/Techniques for XML views and data mappings
*Tools/Techniques for XML data security
*Tools/Techniques for XML data privacy
*Tools/Techniques for XML data compression
*Tools/Techniques for XML in Web services
*Tools/Techniques for XML benchmark and performance studies
*Tools/Techniques for XML applications  in new domains- sensor and biological data management
