The results showed that the particle diameters of nanometer-sized ZnS are in the range of 14~22 nm, mean partical size is about 18 nm and a specific surface areais about 58.8 m2g_1. High activity nanometer-sized ZnS can be obtained through solid state reactionmethod. The ultraviolet absorption demonstrates that the increased bandgap is due to quantum confine-ment. The ZnS nanoparticles have no IR absorption.
