Their crews’ combined injury rate for the entire year was three injuries per 36,072.5 hours of work, or one injury in every 1,503 8-hour workdays. Other CCC crews doing similar work in the same region had an injury rate of 145 injuries per 190,801 hours of work, or one injury in every 164 8-hour workday over the same period of time. Their crews provided over 16% of the total district work hours, but only 2% of the injuries occurred on their crews. The supervisors attribute their exemplary safety record to the Sawyer Development Training Plan that they created.
