Subject: South West Monsoon 2005 – Flood Situation Report.
A comprehensive status report on the flood situation in different parts of the country is given below:
INDIA METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT
During past 24 hours:
- Yesterday’s low pressure area over Bihar and neighbourhood has become less marked and the monsoon is entering into a weak phase
- Fairly widespread rains with isolated heavy falls have occurred over Northeastern States, Bihar East Uttar Pradesh and Western Himalayas,
- There are also reports of fairly widespread rains with isolated heavy falls over central and eastern Nepal.
Forecast valid for next 24 hours
- Enhanced rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls is likely over Northeast States , Sub Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh & Uttranchal.
- Moderate rainfall is likely to continue over Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra with isolated heavy rain falls over the Ghat sections.
- Enhanced rainfall activity over central & eastern Nepal may also continue and may increase further.
