THE NEED.There are one billion people with hypertension, yet barely half have been diagnosed. Among the diagnosed cases, only 20% are controlled (with medication). Untreated and poorly managed cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the No. 1 killer in the world. Early detection combined with effective control is critical for saving millions of lives and reducing related disability. Existing blood pressure (BP) monitoring devices provide only limited information to the physician.

There is a need for a more accurate and informative measurement that properly reflects the cardiovascular system and its haemodynamics. Continuous parameters such as cardiac output, central BP, arterial stiffness, peripheral resistance, and endothelial function are essential for effective drug treatment and controlling CVD.

n OUR SOLUTION.CardioSigns’ lightweight, reliable, non-invasive wrist device is the only system that analyzes pulse shape and blood pressure with the frequency needed to effectively detect and treat hypertension and CVD. The CardioSigns wrist device provides accurate clinical data while being comfortable for the patient. Data from the system’s clinical interpretation software can be used, either locally or via telehealth networks to deliver real-time alerts to patients or caregivers about critical CVS events (BP drop, heart attack or stroke), enabling improved emergency and long-term treatment. Mobile and Web connectivity provide the versatile, affordable solution that can be adapted for applications in hospitals, clinics, and the home.

n TECHNOLOGY.CardioSigns’ unique Pressure Cardiogram (PCG) technology is a proprietary platform that provides clinicians with a comprehensive assessment of the cardiovascular system’s haemodynamics for understanding and treating cardiovascular diseases. The CardioSigns technology uses multiple sensors and actuators with sophisticated algorithms to offer advantages including –

  • Continuous BP measurement
  • Significantly greater accuracy
  • Pulse wave shape via beat-by-beat measurement
  • Computation of 12 important cardiovascular parameters, including central BP, cardiac output, vascular resistance, and endothelial function.

n MARKET. CardioSigns is addressing a number of large and growing markets including:

  • Hospitals - $200M automated BP monitors; $600M vital signs monitors
  • Holter AMBP $143M (F&S,US 2006)
  • Physician’s office – 70,000 GPs, internists, cardiologists (F&S, US 2006)
  • Home care – 7.6 million home care patients in U.S. (NAHC – 2007)
  • Telehealth - $8 billion global (Datamonitor, 2012)

The Company will first develop a solution for the professional market — to receive clinical validation and recognition — while progressing toward its vision of becoming a key element of the primary care and telehealth arena.

n INVESTORS & STRATEGIC PARTNERS.  CardioSigns is looking for strategic partnerships with:

  • A leading cardiology or hypertension center for product definition, clinical trials, and clinical interpretation service.
  • Telehealth and mobile phone partners for using CardioSigns monitors integrated with mobile devices or as an accessory
  • Pharmaceutical companies for development cooperation and

clinical trials

  • HMO and Medical equipment distributors

CardioSigns is seeking a $5 million investment to advance product development and commercialization, and for business development.
