The Microsoft Embedded Dev Con is over, and set records for  attendance.  Applied Data won its sixth Partner award and as a Gold Partner.  ADS is the host of a couple of embedded MVPs, and as Gold Partner and sponsor, ADS has  the ability to triangulate and verify each news item from MEDC pretty accurately, so this is a informed report.  ADS continues to be an important partner in the Windows CE ‘ecosystem’ with the product of three ADS Clients (Zoe, Lifefitness and Cadec) visible in the keynote presentation  Finally, and the  ADS Breakout on Lifecycle Cost managed to garner a  high score for  the Business Track sessions.   
 

The conference was ran like a clock, and the Sumo Robot competition, this year based on Robotics Studio, was a big success.  The competition, held at the swanky Tao nightclub, had Vegas-Style staging and a In-Ring  announcer of  the ‘ready to rumble’ tradition.  The hype was fun, but it may be hype concealed the major story- a dozen or more programmers, many with no prior CE experience, managed to program an effective combat robot with two days (nights?) work in their hotel room.   THAT is impressive.  But MEDC in not about hype; it is about news, technology and learning,  and there was plenty.
