Clinical chemistry Binding of the antibody enzyme conjugate via the HCG antigen bridge

Questions:

  1. Why did we use the ELISA test in this experiment ?
  2.       which subunit of the human chorionic gonadotropin hormone is

            important and why?

  1. How can we know whether our test is positive or negative?
  2. Why it is important  to wash the wells with tap water in step4?

Questions-Answers

  1.         We use the ELISA test to detect whether a woman is pregnant or not using.
  2. The b subunit, because it confers both the biological and immunological specificity of the intact molecules, so the b – HCG

specificity is a critical factor when low levels of HCG are measured in the

specimen.

  1. The appearance of the blue color is an indication that the test result is positive, but if there is no β HCG hormone in our sample the test well will remain colorless.
  2. To get rid of the excess of the conjugated enzyme.
